I live this. We eat organic. We grow organic. We try to live simply (ok.. other than the Mac, Mac Book, iphone, ipad, etc).

I heard Joel Salatin speak back in 1994 and he inspired me to quit teaching and get back to farming.

I forget that most people don’t think about food the way I do. I forget that most people don’t know about how they food is grown, processed and made.

And unless someone tells the people that don’t know, they will never have the chance to make a change.

UNLESS WE CHANGE HOW WE LIVE AS INDIVIDUALS, THE SYSTEM WILL NEVER CHANGE.

And things will never get better….

Make the change. Buy local, eat organic.

I am absolutely stunned by Jamie Oliver’s TED Talk about obesity.

“I wish for your help to create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.”

Every so often you are able to hear somebody say something that you have had thoughts about but lacked the words to put it together. That is what I felt when I heard this talk.

I love a talk that inspires.

I love a talk that causes action.

I am excited to see how much of what Jamie spoke about shows up at the upcoming Local 101 and Local 201 events on March 13.
