I was just in an article in Alberta Farmer Express.  I gave a talk at the Go Organic conference in Leduc about a month ago.

The write up just came out this week.

There isn’t a link available to the website but here is a picture of the article.

For a link to the article, go to digital.albertafarmerexpress.ca and go to page 2.

Drought in Alberta

Drought in Alberta

Things get crazy really quick, don’t they?

As I look out the window today, I am praying that the rain continues and doesn’t stop for the next 48 hours.  Things are awfully dry here at the farm, and not just here on our farm, but everywhere in Alberta.  Another year of drought and …. well.. I don’t like to think about it.

Things are progessing well at the Kingsland Farmers Market.  Very exciting.  Lots of new vendors with great stuff.  I am so looking forward to June 16 and the opening.

The Calgary Farmers Market AGM was last weekend.  They decided to shrink the board down from 7 members to 5.  I still don’t agree with the reasoning, but..  oh well… not my battle.   Not one of the 5 board members lives on a farm and all of them live within the city of Calgary.  Is that a bad thing?  They are more accessible to the market but a farmers market with no farmers on the board just doesn’t seem right to me.

But like I said… not my battle anymore.

Long live the King, baby!

UPDATE:  The new Kingsland Farmers’ market received notification of it’s Alberta Approved Farmers Market status.  We are very excited about this as it brings the KFM one step closer to being an incredible farmers market on the south side of Calgary.
